PILAR, Bataan–Mayor Alice Pizarro is eyeing to develop the full tourism potential of this town particularly the historical Mt. Samat area.

Atop Mt. Samat in upland Barangay Diwa is a giant cross in honor of the Filipino and American soldiers who fought courageously and died during World War 2. The Day of Valor is annually commemorated at Mt. Samat every 9th of April with the President of the country as the guest of honor.

In an interview, Pizarro divulged, among other important priorities of her administration, a focus is local tourism development.

She revealed that a position of tourism officer was created to directly handle the town tourism affairs.
A BS tourism graduate from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, she said the Mt. Samat site will be further developed, including the addition of other tourism activities in the area.

At the time of her husband, former mayor Charlie Pizarro, whom she replaced, a zipline was built near Mt. Samat stretching towards Dunsulan Falls as part of tourism development.

She reported that in just eight months of operation, the money spent for the zipline was recovered.
The lady mayor is also eyeing the improvement of road networks at Mt. Samat and Dunsulan Falls for tourism purposes.

She held the position of municipal tourism chairperson and became the vice chairperson of the Bataan Tourism Council Foundation Incorporated
