The Municipality of Pilarheaded by Mayor Alice D. Pizarro celebrated Women’s Day last March 29, 2014 with the theme “BawatHakbang ay MahalagaTungosaPagbangon at Pagsulong.” Proclamation No. 227 provides for the observance of the Month of March as Women’s Role in History Month.
About five hundred women and menparticipated in the celebration by wa
lking from Barangay Alauli Junction up to the Site of the Flaming Sword in Barangay Panilao. The walk-for-a cause was launched by the Municipal Inter-Agency Implementing Council on Violence Against Women and Children (MIAICVAWC) of the Municipality of Pilar to raise funds for women and children who are victims of all forms of violence.
The walk started at 5:50 in the morning and ended at 6:30 in the morning. A short program in front of the Flaming Swordimmediately followed. A colorful dance exhibition of Zumbaparticipated in by “hataw” groups from different barangaysconcludedthe event.
The Project, the very first of its kind in the Municipality, was a big success because it was supported by different LGUs, NGAs, Barangay Councils, PNP, WCPC, academes, cooperatives, religious organizations, people’s organizations, civil society organizations, business establishments and other generous sponsors.
MIAICVAWC is so grateful to all the participants and sponsors who supported the Project.
The Council hopesthat everyone will continue to walkextra miles to help victims of violence regain their moral integrity and improve theirsocial and economicwell being.
