The second annual OPERATION TULI of the Local Government of Pilar, Bataan through the Municipal Health Office was conducted last May 10-11, 2014 at Pilar Rural Health Unit. A total of 100 adolescents with ages 8-15 years old from the different barangays of Pilar, Bataan benefitted from the free circumcision services including free medications. Most of the young males came from the indigent families of the municipality, hence, it was a big help to these families who cannot afford to send their sons to private clinics for circumcision.
Dr. Ben Bautista (Rural Health Physician) from Balanga City led the team of health professionals for the two-day operation which included Angela Marantal (midwife from Balanga City), Earl Suaberon (nurse from Balanga City) and Ace Vicedo (nurse from Pilar). The staff of Pilar RHU and volunteer nurses from DOH also actively supported the activity.
“This is a big help to our family since we cannot afford the cost of circumcision in the private hospitals” (Malaking tulong to sa ming pamilya dahil hndi naming kayang bayaran ang pagpapatuli sa pribadong hospital), remarked Mrs. Francisca Cunanan, a grandmother of one of the beneficiaries from Brgy. Sta. Rosa.
