Pilar MCPC marks assurance on children’s welfare

SitioTabon, Barangay del Rosario, Pilar, Bataan – The Municipal Council for the Protection of Children of Pilar headed by Municipal Mayor and MCPC Chairman Hon. Alice D. Pizarro initiated the series of half-day simultaneous activities including feeding session and information dissemination to around 40 children and their parents in this barangay.

The Prayer was led by Hon. Aurea L. Iguico, R.I.C. Municipal Adviser and member of MCPC, and was followed by the Opening Remarks delivered by Mayor Alice Pizarro. A series of discussions was held among parents. Topics on the Rights and Welfare of Children, Responsible Family Planning, Laws on Illegal Gambling and Forced Evacuation and The Women and Children’s Desk with focus on the contents of R.A. 7610 - Special Protection of Children against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination and P.D. - 603 The Child and Welfare Code of the Philippines were explained.

Among the diligent discussants include Hon. Alice Pizarro (Council Chairman), Mrs. Ramela P. Buensuceso (PopCom Officer), Ms. Jenny Lee R. Casin (SWA-MSWD), PIns. Dennis R. Orbista (Chief of Police) and SPO1 Gilda Candido (PNP Women’s Desk Officer) all members of the council.

The activity was also managed with the support of the following Council Members; Hon. Fatima Elisa Enriquez (SB Member), Mrs. Anita Dela Rosa (Municipal Budget Officer), Mrs. Fe P. Sagre (Municipal Treasurer), Dr. Jeolfa G. Reyes (DepEd Supervisor), Hon. Aurea L. Iguico and Mr. Hamilton Q. Cruz (Adviser of PRNHS SSG) together with Christian and Benjur and other members of the Supreme Student Government of the said school.

Questions from the parents were properly addressed and concerns were heard. Mayor Alice Pizarro finalized the activity after a short message from Dr. Reyes of the Department of Education was heard.

The highlight of the activity was done as bowls of hot, nutritious and delicious porridge were served and shared by everyone. Parents and their kids alike were all blessed with the care, information and foods served by the council.

Participants were all thankful and enlightened on things about welfare and parenting. Games and funny activities headed by the youth members of the council plus story telling from the Mayor triggered children’s interests and enthusiasm. Warm and pleasant atmosphere with parents and facilitators filled the air.

Punong Barangay Ruben Lingadwarmly expressed his gratitude to the team for the great effort and concern to his constituents. A fellowship lunch was served and enjoyed by everyone courtesy of the jolly barangay official.

The Municipal Council for the Protection of Children was created under Republic Act No. 4881 to supervise and act as guardian for the health, education and well-being of all the minors within the city or municipality.
