The Spirit of Christmas, Alive in Pilar

This is really the season to be jolly as the town of Pilar holds a town-wide contest with each baranggay joining in the Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle Christmas Decoration Competition. The amazing project is initiated by our very dynamic and creative Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro.

One gets wowed at how each baranggay was able to generate such creative decors using recycled and reused materials. The way they reduce the materials used were simply astounding. Various materials like coconut husks, old newspapers, ipil-ipil seeds, plastic cups and spoons, old tires, hay, bottles, and many other materials were put together to come up with wonderful Christmas decors. The way they put together these recycled objects have left by passers and visitors from other places wowing at the amazing sight. Some barangggays even have Christmas songs playing making the display more alive and exciting to see.

Mayor Alice together with a team of equally creative and talented judges roamed around each baranggay for two nights to see which Christmas decors stand out from all the rest. The team of judges composed of Mr. Ceasar Cuayson, former Provincial Tourism Officer, Mrs. Lorely Del Rosario, First Lady of Bagac, and Mrs. Renee Angeles, were all awed at the sight of the different Christmas decors.

Everyone is awaiting which baranggay will bag the title for this spectacular competition.
