The Pilar Municipal Health Office through the leadership of the very dynamic and diligent Dr. Cherrielyne E. Naguit is truly on its way towards making the people of Pilar healthier. In an interview with Dr. Naguit, she enthusiastically shared the many various programs and projects the office was doing to extend effective health services to the townsfolk.
“Beside the many projects mandated by the Department of Health such as Immunization Programs and the Maternal and Neonatal Care, the office also conducts helpful projects very well supported by our beloved Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro. We conduct medical missions to geographically isolated and depressed areas (GIDA) such as Ala-uli, Diwa, Liyang, and Pantingan. We also have the TB Program where we give monthly lectures and information dissemination to different baranggays. In this program, community-based organizations are of big hep to us.”, Dr. Naguit shares.
She continued to share about how they also do caroling during Christmas season to raise funds. On the Christmas of 2013, they gave away noche buena packages to indigent families with a member who has tuberculosis. The fund they raised last Christmas of 2014 will be used to give rice subsidy for 10 months to their beneficiaries. She decided on this because she wanted to have a longer effect of the said project to the beneficiaries.
She also made mention of the anti-smoking campaign in the municipality which will be imposed more strictly this 2015. She said that a compliance check will be done religiously to ensure proper enforcement of the program.
Another impressive project she shared is the Alkansyang Kawayan where they encourage indigent pregnant mothers to be able to save the money they need when they give birth. Also, she shared about the Lying-In Clinic that it has been serving the people well. The office also holds free clinic monthly to different baranggays especially for older patients who have hypertension and diabetes.
“This year, I truly hope we can effectively implement the many programs and projects we are planning beside those mandated by the Department of Health. We have so many things in mind and we hope to accomplish them all for the benefit of the people of Pilar. With Mayor Pizarro’s consistent and encouraging support, we hope to do more.”, Dr. Naguit ends.
