Municipal Local Civil Registrar’s Office: Catering to Every Pilarian’s Identity

The Municipal Local Civil Registrar’s Office is a place to go to for the many vital needs a person has regarding his name and identity. Headed by Mrs. Haidee G. Gunio, the office offers varied services such as:

v  Registry and issuance of birth, marriage, and death certificate.

v  Marriage licensing.

v  Correction of clerical error, for example, misspelled names and change of first name (RA 9048).

v  Legitimation and affidavit to use the surname of the father (RA (9255).

v  Change of date of birth and gender (RA10172) before court hearing.

v  Out of town late registration of birth and/or marriage.

v  Delayed registration of events/late filing.

v  Advance copy of documents.

v  Supplemental report of birthplace, gender, others.

v  Endorsement of documents kept intact at the Office of the Municipal Civil Registrar in case of negative certification issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (formerly known as National Statistics Office or NSO).

v  Request of Annotated Civil Registry Documents (Annulment, Adoption, Correction, Declaration, Presumptive Death Repatriation, and others).

The office is one with the goals of the municipality as initiated by our dynamic Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro to ensure that the needs of the people of Pilar are served effectively and promptly. This year, the office plans to pursue a mass wedding, mobile registration at different baranggays, and information dissemination to schools especially during Parent Teachers Association’s meetings.

“We wish that all parents be properly informed and be responsible in registering their children. This is for their children’s sake or benefit. Documents such as birth certificates are crucial and required at schools, when they apply for work, when they get married, and when they go abroad. People tend to miss lots of opportunities just because of problems with their documents. Our office is ready to serve them but they also need to be responsible in properly registering for their documents.”, Mrs. Gunio stated.
