PhilHealth, Red Cross, and LGU – Pilar: Extending Life Thru Blood

PhilHealth, in celebration of its 20th year of service to the Filipinos launched a bloodetting and blood typing activity entitled “20/20 in 2015. This activity is made possible thru the partnership of Philhealth with Red Cross and Pilar LGU. The blood, which extends life, is donated by the Pilarians.

Philhealth chose to forge with the town of Pilar and the City of Balanga for the said program. Pilar was chosen because the PhilHealth representatives were inspired by how organized and participative the staff of the Municipal Health Office during their ALAGA KA Program in 2014.

Our beloved Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro was grateful for this activity. Blood prolongs life. Donating blood does not only mean helping those in need of it but the donor also benefits because it balances the iron level in the blood and initiates better blood flow. She inspired everyone present in the activity to continue extending help to the poor and needy especially with regard to their health.

The PhilHealth team headed by Region III Branch Manager, Mr. Henry V. Almanon, and Branch Head of Bataan, Mr. Edmund M. Manuel, were very happy to see 35 donors who donated 450cc of blood each, exceeding the expected 20 donors from Pilar.

Free snacks and lunch were served courtesy of the LGU. The activity ended at 12:00 noon.
