Pilar Run 2015: A Success

Pilar Run 2015 held on March 28, 2015 at the symbolic Flaming Sword in front of the Municipality of Pilar building was a huge success. The run was participated in by baranggay LGUs, all the departments of the municipality, the school heads and teachers from Dep-Ed Pilar thru the able leadership of Dr. Jeolfa Reyes, the PNP-Pilar, directors and office staff of Lingap-Kapwa Multi Purpose Cooperative, the Sangguniang Bayan ng Pilar, Hon. Marino H. Caguimbal, and of course, our very energetic and dynamic, Hon. Alicia D. Pizarro, as well as many other valuable guests.

ABC President Miguel Solomon, the head of Pilar Municipal Inter-Agency Implementing Council on Violence against Women and Children (MIAC-VAWC) was very thankful for all those who participated and supported the event. “I am very thankful to all those who come to join us today. Thank you to all the leaders of all the sectors of Pilar for being very supportive to the cause of MIAC-VAWC, especially to our beloved Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro. I hope that every Pilarian be united in helping out women and children to become protected against violence and abuse.”

After the run which has three (3) categories namely 3km, 5km, and 10 km, there was also a Zumba for everyone to enjoy. “I am happy that even men participated in this event especially organized for women. This year’s theme, “Juana, Desisyon mo ay Mahalaga sa Kinabukasan ng Bawat Isa, Ikaw na!” has really opened new doors of hope for the women of Pilar. MIAC-VAWC is always here to support the women and children of Pilar”, ABC Pres. Solomon added.

Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro, Councilor Fatima Enriquez, Ms. Jenny Lee R. Casin of MSWD-Pilar, and SPO2 Gilda R. Candido of the Women’s Desk Office, Pilar PNP gleefully presented a special dance number where they danced to the tune of this year’s women’s month theme song, "Juana, Ikaw na ang Manguna."

Then, winners for the 3km, 5km, and 10 km run were awarded. Prizes for each category is P1,500 for the 1st prize, P1000 for the 2nd prize, and P500 for the 3rd prize. The winners were:

2nd Prize – Kelvin Ibañez

3rd Prize – Edison Avila

10km

1st prize – Jabar Sangco

2nd Prize – Harley Balistan

3rd Prize – Mark Pablo

Proceeds for the fun run will go to the women and children who are victims of abuse and violence.
