Pilar: Cradle of Valor and Heroism of Bataeños Celebrates 73rd Araw ng Kagitingan

Pilar, where the famous Dambana ng Kagitingan is situated specifically at Mt. Samat took pride and heart in the annual celebration of Araw ng Kagitingan. Our beloved Hon. Alicia D. Pizarro spearheaded the participation of the municipality and her constituents for the momentous occasion. She was present at the celebration at the Dambana ng Kagitingan where many very important people attended including no other than His Excellency Benigno Aquino, III graced.

Japanese friends, our beloved veterans, political and community leaders, the youth, and many representatives from the different sectors of the community were also present to commemorate the heroism our forefathers valiantly displayed during the Second World War. As always, it was a touching event.

In line with the 73rd Araw ng Kagitingan celebration, Pilar also participated in the various activities for this year’s celebration. One is at the Drum and Lyre Competition where Balut Elementary School represented the municipality. Another is at the Senior Citizens’ Night last April 10, 2015 at Plaza Mayor, City of Balanga, Bataan where our talented senior citizens danced at their best. Our beloved Mayor was present on that night supporting our beloved elderly.

The Pilar cooperatives also joined at the first ever Bataan Cooperatives’ Night last April 11, 2015, also held at Plaza Mayor.  The Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development office headed by Ms. Azucena E. Sugatain thanked our helpful and dynamic Mayor Alice for her continuous support to the cooperative sector and commended her for the eco-tourism she is vigilantly doing for the historic town of Pilar.

Pilar won 2nd runner up for the Quiz Bee, elementary level, and 3rd runner up for the high school level held at Balanga Elementary School last April 8, 2015 at 8:00AM. The winning schools were Panilao Elementary School and Don Pablo Roman Memorial High School respectively. The float of Pilar also won 3rd prize during the Parade of Floats the same day at 4:00PM.
