Nominees for Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines Visited Pilar, Bataan

The nominees from Region III for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines visited the Mt. Samat Shrine of Valor and made a paid courtesy to our beloved, Hon. Alicia D. Pizarro. The students also have had their lunch at the Municipality of Pilar as our dynamic mayor and her constituents showed our hospitality to these competent students.

The Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) which is an award given by no other than the President of the Philippines is now more than half a century old. It recognizes graduating college students who excelled in academics, who have dedicated their talents for the betterment of their chosen fields, who have displayed able leadership abilities in making a difference and who have become socially involved in their respective communities, organizations, and fields of interest for the greater good of their constituents and members.

The TOSP expanded and embarked on regional searches on 1993 but it was only on 2008 that it started its search on Region III. TOSP was transformed from recognition to a formation program for Regional Finalists which  is conducted by TOSP Region 3 Alumni Community of Heroes (TOSP R3ACH) in cooperation with the Commission on Higher Education Region 3.

For this year’s search, the region chose Bataan as the host province with the objective to promote and relate Central Luzon’s diverse history, culture, and environment to outstanding students of the region. This will hopefully translate to a more potent nation building and good governance as these accomplished students appreciate the value of heroism and valor, which is strongly displayed at Mt. Samat of Pilar, Bataan, in nation building.

To give honor to the province of Bataan as the first host of the TOSP Region 3 formation program happening from April 23 to 27, 2015, the theme chosen was “#BAYANiFOEREVR”.

To the TOSP region 3 finalists, kudos and more power!
