Festival Planning and Management Enhancement Seminar-Workshop: Preparing Pilar For More Colorful Festivities

From May 25 – 27, 2015, a Barangay Roll-out on Festival Planning and Management Enhancement Seminar Workshop was conducted at the Bataan Government Center in Ala-uli, Pilar, Bataan. The 3-day seminar workshop aims to develop a person’s knowledge about festivals and inculcate creativity in preparing and conducting such. The ultimate goal is to come up with a festival unique only to Pilar.

Participants were composed of a barangay official preferably chairman on culture and arts or tourism, a resident choreographer, a computer literate preferably with basic knowledge on music editing and some artistically inclined individuals on visual arts of each barangay. Five (5) speakers facilitated the event. Mr. Joseph Ralph S. Dizon, talked about Festival Choreography and Dance, Festival Music, Festival Directing, and directed the participants to a Dance Workshop.

Mr. Hipolito M. Duque Jr. taught about Festival and Its Components and Festival Planning. He also spoke about Costume and Stage Design together with Mr. Dizon after which, he guided the participants to a Workshop in Costume Design.

Mrs. Florentina B. Olivares and Ms. Mary Rose T. Ferrera trained on Storyline while Mr. Leo C. Espinosa coached on Story Board. The three (3) speakers guided the participants to a workshop on the said topics.

The seminar-workshop provided knowledge and expertise to the participants for better and livelier annual celebrations of Pilar’s fiesta come October 12. For the long term, it will also prepare our townsfolk to become better equipped in making celebrations in Pilar unique to its identity that will further enhance highlighting the history, culture, and tradition of the Municipality of Pilar.

On the last day, the participants presented their outputs thru the “Kasinagan Festival”, which is to be adapted as the festival owned and unique to Pilar. Knowledge and creativity which are all powerful tools in boosting tourism and preserving traditions and culture were enhanced among the participants.

Everyone was very participative during the seminar workshop. The outputs were very impressive despite the limited time that was given them. Each one was resourceful, creative, and artistic and all were united and excited during the entire seminar workshop. Barangay Sta. Rosa bagged the Best Festival Queen Costume Design and Barangay Wawa won Best in Festival Dance which showcases their unique composition of storyline and storyboard from the rich history and culture of Pilar. Ms. Christine Gale O. Austria and Ms. Abegail S. Torrico spearheaded the event thru the dynamic support of our very creative Mayor herself, Hon. Alicia D. Pizarro.
