The annual school supplies distribution of the Municipality of Pilar to the district’s public elementary schools held on June 2, 2015 began the school year very happy and exciting for the pupils. Our well-beloved Hon. Alicia D. Pizarro initiated the annual distribution of the school supplies to help pupils have a good start of schooling. This greatly helps in subsidizing the needs of the pupils for learning materials like notebooks, pencils, crayons, and others.
The school supplies distributed last year and this year came from a good friend of Mayor Pizarro who wants to remain anonymous. The recipients are those underprivileged pupils chosen by school heads.
Along with Dr. Jeolfa G. Reyes, District Supervisor of Pilar, Dr. Cherrielynne E. Naguit, and SPO2 Gilda R. Candido, Mayor Pizarro gave away 987 free school bags containing 4 notebooks, 5 pencils, crayons, and pencil case to the pupils of the 12 public elementary schools of Pilar including Pantingan Elementary School, Liyang Elementary School, Diwa Elementary School, Nagwaling Elementary School, Ala-uli Elementary School, Panilao Elementary School, Sta. Rosa Elementary School, Balut Elementary School, Wakas Elementary School, Bagumbayan Elementary School, Jose S. Herrera Sr. Memorial Elementary School, and Pilar Elementary School.
The distribution ran from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. It was exhausting but very fulfilling to help these young students in their journey towards learning. Since education is a right to be enjoyed by children, the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children headed Mayor Pizarro will continue to find ways to keep this activity on a yearly basis.
