Benchmarking -- Municipality of Pilar Supports Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program

Our diligent and proactive Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro led barangay captains and members of the Solid Waste Management Board in visiting Barangay San Miguel in Lubao, Pampanga.and Barangay Maimpis, San Fernando City, Pampanga for a solid waste management benchmarking activity. The goal of the benchmarking is to adopt an effective solid waste management system in Pilar.


Mayor Pizarro stressed that being able to have an effective solid waste management practices in Pilar can contribute to the rehabilitation of the Manila Bay area. This is in accordance with the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Project (MBCRRP). She pointed out that it is important that Pilar will not be part of the continuous destruction of the scenic bay because of waste dumping in the area.


She narrated that she became aware of the effective solid waste management practices in the two areas during the Manila Bay rehab program forum of their town’s officials conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bataan.


She pointed out that, “The municipality of Pilar is in full support to the Manila Bay rehabilitation program in the province being spearheaded by the DENR Bataan”.


It is worth noting that the stretch of the coasts of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Balanga, Pilar, Orion, Limay, and Mariveles is part of Manila Bay. Thus, our proactive Mayor has her heart into conserving the said bay.


In all the barangays of Pilar, one can notice the different Material Recovery Facilities in each barangay. Every resident is being continuously tapped to practice proper waste segregation and disposal. With the cooperation of every Pilarian, this town will not be guilty of destroying the beauteous Manila Bay with its famous sunset being visited by tourists around the world.
