The family of Igmedio Reyes from Panilao, Pilar, Bataan representing the Pilar Integrated OFW Family Circle for the Model OFW Family Year Awards (MOFYA) won the title for Region 3. The prestigious award is given by OWWA yearly to a deserving OFW family. This is the 11th year for the said recognition.
For the land-based category, Reyes family won against Norzagaray OFW Family Circle participants in Region 3. The requirementsto be included in the search are as follows:
1. The nominee must be an OFW retiree within six (6) years of staying in the Philippines.
2. He/she must have an existing business within an advocacy of helping others.
3. All his/her children have finished schooling and have stable jobs.
4. He/she must be a community service advocate.
5. He/she must be a member of any church organization.
Mr. Reyes touched the heart of the judges who represented the various sectors in the community such as the business sector and the church and judges from Department of Labor and Employment and OWWA. He shared his story about his wife who died from cancer and how his family cope up with their life despite her absence.
The event was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Clark, Angeles City, Pampanga last October 20, 2015. The family was assisted by Ms. Imelda P. Desales, the diligent and dynamic President of Pilar OFW Family Circle.
Reyes family will represent OFW Family Circle Region 3 at the National Level. Hopefully, the family will bag the Model Family Award at the National Level as well.
