One of the prestigious awards when it comes to being a healthy municipality is the Red Orchid Award. The Municipality of Pilar was blessed to bag the said award last February 4, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Clark, Angeles City, Pampanga.
The awarding was celebrated the entire day and was well-attended by important personalities in various local government units and the health sector. The recognition was graced by the guest speaker, previous Department of Energy Secretary Mr. Jericho Petilla.
Governor Albert S. Garcia received the Red Orchid award for the different towns and health units in Bataan namely Samal, Pilar, Dinalupihan, Bagac Medicare, and the Provincial Health Office. With him was our dynamic and beloved Hon. Alicia D. Pizarro to receive the award for Pilar together with Mr. Ace Anthony Vicedo, the municipality’s tobacco control coordinator, Dr. Cherrielynne Naguit, our diligent Municipal Health Officer, Councilor Edgardo Lulu, ABC Miguel Solomon, and Vice Mayor Marino H. Caguimbal.
Mr. Vicedo, in this interview, stated that he hopes that the fight against smoking in Pilar will never waver and that everyone will do their share in keeping the air in Pilar fresh from cigarette smoke. He hopes that this drive will be kept at heart to ensure this town is always healthy.
