It’s Another Red Orchid for the Municipality of Pilar

City of Balanga, Bataan – During the Flag Ceremony of the Bataan Provincial Capitol on May 30, 2016 at the Capitol Grounds, various hospitals and local government unit awardees for Red Orchid Award were given trophies of recognition and cash assistance.


The categories for the award are the LGU Category, local agencies, and hospitals. Bataan bagged the most number of Red Orchid Award in Central Luzon which was awarded at the Holiday Inn few months back.


Dr. Rosanna Buccahan, Bataan’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Maria Belina M. Ibasco of the Department of Health Regional Office, and our beloved governor Hon. Albert S. Garcia, were present at the event. The awarding was done before the Capitol employees of Bataan and the guests from other offices and agencies.


The winners for the hospital category were Jose C. Payumo Jr. Memorial Hospital, Orani District Hospital, and Bagac Community and Medicare Hospital. Each received P20,000.00 and trophy.


The winners for the local agencies were the Bataan Provincial Capitol, Bataan Provincial Police Office, and the Bataan District Jail. These offices also received P20,000.00 and trophy.


The winners for the LGU Category who bagged P50,000.00 cash assistance and trophy were the Municipality of Dinalupihan, Municipality of Samal, and Municipality of Pilar.


Mayor Jean Dela Fuente of Samal was present to receive the award with the municipality’s Tobacco Control Program Coordinator Mr. Japhed Adraneda.


To receive the award for the Municipality of Pilar was no less than our very dynamic and health advocate Hon. Alicia D. Pizarro with the municipality’s Tobacco Control Program Coordinator, the hard-working Mr. Ace Vicedo.


The province was also awarded as the third province nationwide to receive a Red Orchid Award. Dr. Maria Belina M. Ibasco and Dr. Rosanna Buccahan awarded the trophy to Gov. Albert S. Garcia.


The ceremony was closed by Gov. Garcia affirming the winners and encouraging everyone to take active roles in ensuring that the entire province becomes tobacco-free. He said that this will help in achieving the province’s vision of having the highest Human Development Index which includes per capita income, access to quality education, and life expectancy. He further challenged the various offices and LGUs to continue implementing the Anti-Tobacco Campaign not only because of the Red Orchid Award but mostly for ensuring health among the citizenry of Bataan. He stressed the need for longer and better quality of life. Finally, he encouraged the winners to keep on with the great job and congratulated everyone for increasing the number of bagged awards from 4 to 11 to date and hoped the number will increase in the years to come.
