Municipality of Pilar Planted a Legacy at 1Bataan Green Legacy

Orion, Bataan – The Municipality of Pilar spearheaded by our beloved and diligent Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro joined the 1Bataan Green Legacy, our attempt for the Guiness World Record for most trees planted in an hour by a group of unlimited size in a single location, last June 25, 2016 at Gen. Lim, Orion, Bataan. The tree planting legacy was joined by Dep Ed Pilar thru the leadership of Dr. Joelfa G. Reyes and the school heads, Pablo Roman National High School, Light of Jesus Family-Pilar Chapter, El Shaddai-Pilar Chapter, Pilar Integrated OFW Family Circle, Kabalikat, Kalipi, Riders Support Group, Samahan ng mga Magsasaka sa Pilar, Philippine Academy of Technical Studies, Samahan ng mga Tindera, Pilar RIC, the cooperatives in Pilar, farmers and fishermen organizations, the youth and students of Pilar, and the different barangays of the town.

The activity started at 3:00 in the morning. The assembly gathered at Rock Mix in Ala-uli, Pilar where service vehicles awaited volunteers to be transported to the planting site in General Lim, Orion, Bataan. Because of the thousands of people flooding in, most were not able to ride instead, they walked until they reached the site. The activity ended at past 1:00 in the afternoon.

Despite the hunger, thirst, and tiredness, the volunteers were all very happy to have been a part of this historic event. Bataan now holds the title of having planted the most number of trees planted in an hour. A total of 223,390 trees were planted by the volunteers from the entire province. This is the first Guinness World Record the province now holds following the City of Balanga’s Largest Dance Fitness Class acquired last March 2016.
