Pilar, Bataan ΜΆ Exactly a year after its first launch, the Municipality of Pilar conducted its 2nd Buntis Congress last August 25, 2016 at the Municipal covered court.
As a new addition from last year’s event, pregnant women who were in their first trimester underwent a Syphilis Screening Test which was done simultaneously during the registration. The screening test was conducted by Ms. Marciana Mendiola, RMT.
The first part of the program was a series of lectures. The event was able to feature new topics besides those that were discussed last year. Dr. Mary Ellen Enriquez began the lecture proper by discussing the importance of breastfeeding and newborn screening. This was followed by Ms. Ma. Corazon Apolinario, nurse, who gave a brief lecture on sexually transmitted infection. After that, Ms. Leonora Sunico, midwife, shared an insightful talk about family planning.And last but not the least, Ms. Gemma Sabarea, midwife, ended the series of lectures by discussing the effects of smoking during pregnancy.
To ensure the active involvement of the participants, after every lecture, there would be a question and answer portion wherein those who are able to get the correct answer will be given a prize.
The second part of the program was the distribution of the Buntis Kit. The Buntis Kit contains a betadine wash, baby soap, towel, baby oil, alcohol and etc.
