Mayor Alice Pizarro, alongside the other members of the Municipal Council for the Welfare of Children, Dr. Jeolfa G. Reyes (District Supervisor), Hon. Cecilia Garcia (SB on Eductaion), Ms. Jenny Lee R. Casin (OIC-MSWDO) and Vice Mayor Marino Caguimbal gave recognition to the students of Pilar, Bataan last September 5, 2016 who won the 2016 Division Schools Press Conference.
From Liyang Elementary School, Richmonde Julian Conocido won 1st place for the English category in Sports writing. Also from the same school, Junie de Leon won 2nd place for the Filipino category, also in Sports writing. The students were both trained by Ms. Janette Manlapaz. For Dr. Victoria B. Roman Memorial High School in Pantingan, Rhiz Alyana J. Aquino won 2nd place in the Filipino category for Photojournalism. Her trainer was Ms. Liwayway E. Pega.
Spearheaded by Mayor Alice Pizarro, this act of recognition took place so as to uphold the developmental and participation rights of the children. This also further emphasizes the value of promoting the welfare of the children.
Aside from the certificate of recognition, the students also received a medal and a cash gift. But it was not only the students who were awarded. The efforts of the trainers were also acknowledged. The MCWC gave the mentors a certificate of recognition as well as a cash gift.
