Barangay Day at Alauli

Alauli, Pilar – The Municipal Council for the Welfare of Children (MCWC) in Pilar successfully conducted another Barangay Day at Brgy. Alauli last September 29, 2016.

The rainy weather did not hinder the event.

Same as before, the Barangay Day consisted of lectures about family planning, anti-smoking, women’s rights and other subject matters.

The program officially began with a prayer led by Ms. Ramela Buensuceso. Then, the Barangay Captain of Brgy. Alauli, Mr. Rodrigo Lulu, gave his welcoming remarks to the residents of his barangay. “Humihingi po ako ng tulong sainyo, nasasainyo po kung paano natin mapananatiling malinis and barangay natin”, said Mr. Lulu. Present were the senior citizens, kabalikat and the PWDs. After that, Ms Jenny Lee Casin (OIC-MSWDO), a member of the MCWC, gave an overview to the residents regarding what the event will be all about.

The first lecture was about the Importance of Birth Registration and the Requirements for Late Birth Registration. This was discussed by Ms. Haidee Gunio, the Local Civil Registrar. The next lecture was about the ordinance authored by the Sangguniang Bayan of Pilar, the Full Implementation of Parental Responsibility, discussed by Hon. Cecilia Garcia who is the Committee Chairman on Education, Arts & Culture. “Kailangan po nating tandaan ang responsibilidad ng isang magulang”, said Hon. Garcia. She discussed the possible consequences once a parent does not comply with the said ordinance.

PO1 She Ann O. Aviso elaborated on the topic of Special Protection for Children and Women. She also gave emphasis on the importance with regards to violence against women and children. After that, the MCWC headed a short zumba fitness dance program which involved the residents.

Next was the discussion of SFO1 Joel Pajares on Fire Safety Tips. “Number one na pinanggagalingan ng sunog ay kapabayaan”, said SFO1 Pajares, as he discussed various tips in order to prevent fire-related incidents.

Mayor Alice Pizarro gave the residents of Brgy. Alauli a meaningful discussion on Solid Waste Management. She compared the difference of how life was in the past to how it is now. “Ang mag bata ngayon hindi na papayagan maglaro sa ulan, sa baha, dahil ito ay madumina, at sanhi ito ng basura”, Mayor Alice said. And in order to properly utilize the household wastes, she also gave tips on how to make use of those that can still be recycled.

Lastly, from the Municipal Health Office, Ms. Lilian Javier, a midwife, gave the residents modern ways of how to conduct Family Planning. Also, Ms. Sherrylyn Atienza, a nurse, discussed Anti-Smoking and told the residents the benefits that will be gained once one quits smoking.

The same as the first barangay day, there were also other simultaneous activities. SPO1 Elvin Bunio discussed to the barangay officials the role of the Lupong Tagapamayapa. Also, SPO4 Edith Solomon conducted an Eye Refraction to the residents of Barangay Alauli.

After the raffle, Hon. Aurea Iguico, the Committee Chairman on Women & Family, gave the closing remarks which officially ended the program. And the same as the first barangay day, there was also a boodle fight after the lectures.
