AgriFair 2016

Last October 4, 2016, the launching of the AgriFair 2016 took place at the Municipal Covered Court.  

 

The program officially began with a ribbon cutting ceremony lead by Mayor Alice Pizarro and the Municipal Agriculturist Godofredo Espiritu. Also with them was Hon. Victor Pizarro, the SB Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Fisheries. 

 

This was followed by a doxology performed by the Rondalia Romano of Pablo Roman National High School (PRNHS). Then the National Anthem which was sung by the Koro Romano, also from PRNHS.

 

The participants were welcomed to the event by Mr. Godofredo Espiritu and was followed by Ms. Josephine Ciriaco (Agricultural Extension Worker) who introduced the different agricultural organizations that were present during the event. Each participant showcased their products through a creative display of their booths. The different agricultural products were featured and given highlight during that day, like the processed produce of tahong, the tahong chips and other processed food products like crispy dilis and banana chips.

 

After the introduction, Mayor Alice Pizarro gave an inspirational message to the participants emphasizing on the importance of the agricultural sector to the municipality. “Lahat ng inaani, ang bunga ng inyong hirap, paged at pagtitiyaga ninyo para sa ating bayan”, she said. She also mentions that the AgriFair served as a thanksgiving event for a fruitful year with the guidance of our patron saint of Nuestra SeÅ„ora Del Pilar. Also present during the event was GM Charlie Pizarro who also gave an inspirational message. He showed appreciation to the unity of Pilarians in participating and helping with the different projects of the municipality. “Dahil kung hindi po tayo nagtutulungan at nagkakaisa, hindi po natin mararating and progressong ating nararanasan”, GM Charlie said. 

 

The inspirational messages were supported by a creative performance of Mr. Anselmo Pedroche of the Nagwaling Diwa Liyang Farmer’s Association (NAGDILIFA) who recited a self-made poem entitled “Angat Pilar: Magandang Buhay”. Then the mass induction of officers of the different organizations was headed by Mayor Alice Pizarro. 

 

Hon. Victor Pizarro officially ended the first part of the event with his closing remarks conveying to the people his role as public servants. “Kami po ay nandito para kayo ay gabayan, dahil kami po ay naglilingkod ng tapat sainyo” said Hon. Victor. 

 

The second part of the event began with a series of performances for the Group Singing Competition. The judges for the Group Singing Competition and Best Costume were Mr. Joel Danque from Wakas Elementary School, Mr. Gespher John Sanchez and Ms. Desiree E. Catalan both from PRNHS. And the judges for the Best Booth Competition were Ms. Bernadette Galor, Ms. Teresita E. Magtanong (DTI), and Ms. Flora R. Bobadilla.

2nd - Samahang Mandaragat ng Balut II

3rd - Wawa Fsihseller Association

 

For the Best Costume:

 

1st - Wawa Fishseller Association

2nd - Pilar Rural Improvement Club

3rd - Samahang Mandaragat ng Balut II 

 

For the Best Booth:

 

1st - Nature Keepers Association (NKA)

2nd - Pilar Rural Improvement Club

3rd - Samahang Mandaragat ng Landing and Samahang Nagkakaisang Tindera ng Landing

4th - Samahang Mandaragat ng Balut II

5th - Nagkakaisang Mangingisda ng Wawa; Pantingan Farmer’s Association Inc. 

 

There was also PINAKA competition wherein entries for the longest banana and sitaw, and heaviest papaya were to be submitted. The following are the results:

After the awarding was the recap of the celebration up to its culmination. Also present during the  event were Hon. Rodelio Paguio, Hon. Aurea Iguico, and Hon. Edgardo Lulu.
