PaSaKalye (Street Dancing Competition) 2016

The PaSaKalye (Street Dancing Competition) last October 8, 2016 was one of the most awaited fiesta events. Last years competition truly motivated the other barangays to be more competitive  this year as seen in their costumes and performances.

The different barangays that participated were Brgy. Sta. Rosa (Group 1); Brgy, Balut I & Balut II (Group 2); Brgy. Del Rosario & Poblacion (Group 3); Brgy. Panilao (Group 4); Brgy. Bagumbayan, Burgos & Rizal (Group 5); Brgy. Bantan Munti & Wakas South (Group 6). This years prizes are as follow: P20,000 for the 2nd runner up, P25,000 for the 1st runner up, and P30,000 for the champion.

Hon. Cecilia Garcia, the SB Committee Chairman on Tourism and Historical Interest, gave the opening statement and welcomed everyone cheerfully despite the fact that the rain was continuously pouring. Rather than taking the rain as an unfavorable sign, Hon. Garcia says that ,“ang pagulan po na ito ay blessing”. Mayor Alice Pizarro agrees with her and says, “first time po natin na kasama natin ang ulan sa ating street dancing competition”.

Mayor Alice Pizarro also introduced the recent winner of Miss Bataan 2016, Ms. Princess Ericka Tecson and awarded her with a Certificate of Recognition. Also given recognition that day was the 11th World Skills ASEAN Competition Champion, Mr. Mark Anthony Guiao, who was awarded with a Plaque of Appreciation. Mr. Guiao garnered a Gold Medal in Mechanical Engineering Design-CAD and Best of Nations award. His coach, Mr. Albert S. Tinao, was also awarded with a Certificate of Recognition from Mayor Alice Pizarro.

The judges for the street dancing competition were Mr. Ariel Batiles, Mr. Bong Ramos and Mr. Gab Guevarra. Each group had 40-50 performers. The event began with the “Sayaw sa Kalye” which started from Bantan Munti to Flaming Sword Shrine. This was followed by Group Exhibition which manifested this years theme for the festival which is “pagdiriwang, pagbubunyi, pasasalamat”. After each team’s presentation, all participants performed the Unity Dance in front of the Flaming Sword Shrine.

After this was the awarding ceremony. First was the awarding of Certificate of Participation to all the barangays that took part in the event. Next was the awarding of the Festival Queen from Barangay Panilao (Group 4), and Best in Costume which is Group 1, Barangay Sta. Rosa.
