Last October 9, 2016, the Duet Superstars showcased the talents of different pairs from different barangays at the Municipal Covered Court.
The 1st round for this competition requires a duet piece to be sung by the pair. For those who would move up to the 2nd round, the pairs will perform a song that is originally sung by a solo artist. It is up to the performers on how they will be able to turn the solo piece into a duet. 2nd runner up will get P7,000, for the 1st runner up is P10,000 and the Champion will receive P15,000.
The event was officially opened by a welcoming remark from Vice Mayor Marino Caguimbal. This was followed by an inspirational message from Hon. Miguel Solomon. He thanked everyone who participated in all the events during the fiesta celebration.
The judges for the night’s competition were Mr. Gespher John Sanchez, Mr. Nesty Enriquez and Mr. Joven Magbanua. Round 1 began with a performance from Brgy. Del Rosario, followed by Brgy. Sta. Rosa, Brgy. Panilao, Brgy. Bagumbayan, Brgy. Balut II, Brgy. Wawa and Brgy. Alauli. All performers happened to be related somehow as revealed by the host of whom some would be relatives while others would be friends. The performers sung famous duet pieces such as Hanggang Ngayon, Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang and Ikaw.
GM Charlie Pizarro graced the event and mentioned how he noticed the development in the municipality. “Ako po ay natutuwa sa aking mga nakikita, kaya panatilihin natin ang kalinisan, kasiyahan at katahimikan sa ating bayan”, GM Charlie said.
After the former mayor’s message was a performance from last year’s winner of the Barangay Singing Idol-Kid Edition Ms. Nicah Loquias sang 12:51 and Forevermore. And for Round 2, Brgy. Del Rosario performed first followed by Brgy. Sta. Rosa, Brgy. Wawa and Brgy. Alauli. The participants sang famous solo pieces such as Anak and Portrait of my Love. After the performances of the contestants, the Barangay Singing Idol-Adult Edition 2015, Ms. Krissia Binungcal, sang One Day. This was followed by Mr. Ace Espinosa’s own rendition of the famous song, Dadalhin.
Folowing the performances was the awarding of the winners. The 2nd runner up is from Brgy. Sta. Rosa (Hazel Niña Tabaquero & Czarina Noreen Cabuang) and was awarded by Hon. Miguel Solomon. The 1st runner up is from Brgy. Wawa (Mary Grace Absalon & Manilyn Tayag) and was awarded by Hon. Cecilia Garcia. Lastly, the Champion, is from Brgy. Alauli (Sherwin Pineda & Sheila Mae Nieves) and was awarded by Mayor Alice Pizarro.
The winners for this event were given the opportunity to perform at the Night With The Stars that culminates this year’s fiesta celebration.
