Galing ni Lola’t Lolo, Bibo si Apo

“Galing ni Lola’t Lolo, Bibo si Apo” is the fiesta event which aims to prove that age doesn’t matter. The senior citizens of the Municipality of Pilar, together with their grandchildren, showcased their talents last October 10, 2016 at Municipal Covered Court.

The event began with an opening message from Hon. Aurea Iguico. This was followed by an inspiring message from Vice Mayor Mar Caguimbal. The judges for this event were Ms. Marilyn Tigas, Mr. Marvin Medina, and Ms. Joni Orejola.

The contestants performed different kinds of talents, from portraying a short drama, to singing and dancing, truly the age of the participants does not hinder them from performing. The grandchildren also took this as an opportunity to express their love to their grandparents. One of them said, “habang buhay pa ang parents at grandparents iparamdam natin na love natin sila”. And of course, one of the pairs sang “Batang Bata Ka Pa” wherein it shows the relationship of a grandchild and grandparent giving advice to the younger one.

After the contest proper, Mr. Romeo G. Manilili wrote a poem dedicated to the senior citizens entitled “Alay kay Lolo at Lola”. This was followed by the astounding performance of the Pilar Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP) Zumba dancers. Despite their age, the senior citizens want to keep themselves healthy and fit. One of the judges, Ms. Joni Orejola, sang “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko” and moved the audience as the song conveys the message of continuous love in spite of growing older.

Mayor Alice PIzarro also gave her inspirational speech and said, “kayo po ang aking inspirasyon, dahil kahit po inabot na ninyo ang ganyang edad, kayo po ay patuloy na nagiging mabuting ehemplo”. She also gave notice to the amazing talents of the participants and said, “ang fiesta po ang pagpapakita ng masayang mamamayan”.

Before the announcement of winners, Rondalia Romano sways the audience with their instrumental prowess. Hon. Cecilia Garcia and Ms. Jenny Lee Casin (OIC-MSWDO) awarded the 2ND Runner Up, Ms. Cleotilde Mercado & Princess Grace Fernandez from Brgy. Nagwaling. Vice Mayor Mar Caguimbal and Hon. Aurea Iguico awarded the 1ST Runner Up, Ms. Maxima Huelba & Jana Cesiah Rosas from Brgy. Poblacion. Mayor Alice Pizarro and Mr. Leandro Villar, President of PSFCAP, awarded the Champion Ms. Mercedes Morales & Lian Morales from Brgy. Pantingan.

Also present during the event was GM Charlie Pizarro.
