Kasinagan Festival 2018

This year's Kasinagan Festival, with the theme "Kultura't Kasaysayan bunga'y Kabuhayan, alay kay Nuestra Señora Del Pilar" began with a mass to bless this year's celebration and for thanksgiving to the abundant blessings that the municipality has received. 

This was followed by the launching of the annual AgriFair Exhibit. But what's different with this year was each booth was dressed in line with this year's theme. Featured were the products of the different associations and also featured were old irons, old sewing machines and also food that were no longer eaten nowadays. 

Last October 5 was the launching of the Kagitingan Ensemble which featured our talented students from Pablo Roman National High School. This event began with Rondalla Romano serenading the audience and was followed by a message from our Vice Mayor, Marino H. Caguimbal. Vice Mayor Caguimbal said that he was in awe while watching the students play their instruments and was proud that at such a young age they were already as talented as they are. After his message, the Kagitingan Ensemble performed their interpretation of "Alamat ng Maganda si Pilar". After their performance, SB Member, Mr. Cipriano Paguio congratulated everyone with their outstanding performance. 

The next event was the Zumba for Lolo and Lola which was spearheaded by our MSWDO. The event began with the acknowledgement of the participants by Ms Maricel Clavel, the Senior Citizen Focal Person. This was followed by a welcome message from SB Member, Ms. Aurea Iguico and a momentous message from Vice Mayor Marino Caguimbal. The Barangay Senior Citizen Presidents serenaded the participants through their choral presentation. Ms. Jenny Lee Casin gave the closing remarks.

Following this event was the "Tanod ng Tanghalan" last October 6. This event featured our talented Barangay Tanods, who were not only only dedicated public servants, but also talented Pilarians. There were also special numbers from the Kagitingan Ensember and Ms Mikaela Puzon. SB Member Edgardo Lulu congratulated the participants and thanked them for their service to our municipality. The event was hosted by Mr. Angelo Pierre Delos Reyes. 

Last October 7, the Sangguniang Kabataan spearheaded the event entitled, "Laro ng Lahi". Last year the event was in partcipation with the Municipal Employees, but this year, the younger generation was tapped to allow them to experience the games that were played before. SB Member Edgardo Lulu thanked everyone for their participation. This event was followed by the performances of DepEd Pilar. With the event titled, "Sayaw DepEd: Dances Through History", which featured the different dance crazes over time. SB Member Fatima Enriquez expressed her gratitude seeing her former teachers perform their hearts out. 

"Gawad ng Tanglaw para sa Ulirang Ina", was held last October 8, which highlights the model mothers of each barangay. This event recognizes the tireless efforts of mothers in keeping their household afloat despite of the continuous challenges that they face. Our Municipal Mayor, who is also an Ulirang Ina, thanked everyong for their continuing efforts in attaining our vision. Dr. Marita Navata gave an inspirational speech that explains the importance of mothers in our touday's society. She gave a meaning to the word I-N-A, I which stands for "inspirasyon", N for "nurse", and A for "angel". She was surprised with a message from her son who mentions how his mother has inspired him to do his best in everything he does. This was followed by the awarding of plaque of recognition to the mothers. SB Member Aurea Iguico congratulated everyone and said that for every mothers that were present, that even if they were not given a plaque, their efforts will always be thanked and recognized. After this was the dinner to which the Rondalla Romano serenaded the guests. 

This year's Festival Queen event, there are two parts. For the Hair and Make-up Competition in the SB Session Hall. And for the pageant proper, this began with an opening remarks from Vice Mayor Marino Caguimbal and was followed by an inpsirational message from Mayor Alice Pizarro. The Kagitingan Ensemble graced the event with an intermission number. SB Member Cecilia Garcia gave the closing remarks.

The annual street dancing competition, PaSaKalye, was held on October 10, with two categories. One is for Elementary level, and another, is for the Barangay level. The event was graced by former Mayor, GM Charlie Pizarro. And as part of the traditional Kasinagan celebration, after the presentations, all participants performed the Unity Dance together. This was hosted by Mr. Joseph Ralph Dizon. 

The Parada ng Bayan was followed by the La Torre held at the Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Church Grounds. And as thanksgiving to the bountiful year ahead, a Mass was held and was followed by a Fireworks Display.

This year's Night with the Stars or Gabi ng Bituin was held last October 13 at the Municipal Covered Court. The stars invited this year were: Jak Roberto, Sanya Lopez, Salbakuta, Beatriz Imperial, John Edric, Vhise Nhegra, The Elite Poppers, Gabriela, Muzicas Band, and Body Shock Dancers. The night was hosted by Trisha. 

The Kasinagan Festival 2018 celebration was a success with the participation of the different sectors, from the Senior Citizens to the Sangguniang Kabataan. This year's theme, "Kultura't Kasaysayan bunga'y Kabuhayan, alay kay Nuestra Señora Del Pilar" was highlighted as part of the municipality's initiative to cascade its vision, Pilar is the Historical-Cultural Tourism Center of Luzon by 2020.
