50/50 Rice Program Scheme Launched at the Municipality of Pilar

The Municipal Agrarian Office of the Municipality of Pilar launched the 50/50 Rice Program last February 11, 2015 thru the able leadership of MAO Department Head Mr. Godofredo H. Espiritu. The program is intended for the dry season to ensure that enough harvest will be produced by the local farmers. 335 bags of certified seeds were distributed to beneficiaries held at the Municipal Covered Court.

Present during the distribution were the diligent Mr. Espiritu, our dynamic and always supportive Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro, and other LGU and community leaders.  Currently, Pilar has 115 farmers on its list. The certified seeds amounts to P1,360 but only 50% of the amount will be shouldered by the farmers while the remaining 50% is paid for by the Department of Agriculture.

Mr. Espiritu was also happy to announce the three (3) new units of shallow tube  well (STW) that were also distributed to the three (3) associations of farmers in Pilar namely the Sta. Rosa/Balut Farmers Association headed by Chairman Alex Dilig, Liyang Upland Farmers Association(LUFA) headed by Mr. Victor Hernandez and Bgy. Capt. Irineo Santiago of Liyang, and Panikian Association headed by Mr. Willy Ontingco.

One former beneficiary of the STW was the Naglilipa headed by Chairman Danny Zulueta. Also, 60 pieces of laminated sacks were distributed to the organizations. There were two (2) collapsible dryers as well awarded to the associations. These were all made possible through the support of our beloved Mayor Alice D. Pizarro.
