Pilar, Bataan - The Second Municipal Children’s Congress with the theme “Komunidad at Pamahalaan Magkaisa, Pang-aabusosa Bata, Wakasanna!” transpired at the Bataan Government Center last November 27, 2015. The whole day affair was organized by the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children headed by no other than its Chairperson and dynamic Mayor of Pilar, Hon. Alicia D. Pizarro.
The congress featured many activities that celebrated children, their skills, and talents. These include Poster Making contest, Essay Writing contest, Laro ng Lahi, E-Fashion competition, Lantern Making, and Mural Painting contest. The participants were pupils and students from all elementary and secondary public and private schools in the District of Pilar. These young achievers in academics, sports, and other competitions are hosted by the Department of Education and other partners.
The highlight of the event was the State of the Children Address of Mayor Pizarro where she reported about the current situation of the children in the municipality, the programs and projects initiated by the municipality and partners in ensuring the protection of children in Pilar, and continuous improvement of their present status.
The event was finalized with the awarding of winners in the different competitions. The children were pupils from the District of Pilar coached by their respective teacher coaches and led by their school heads and principals. Dr. Joelfa G. Reyes, Pilar District Supervisor, was present to grace the event as well as with the other important guests who tirelessly give their support for this event.
The members of the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children together with Hon. Marino H. Caguimbal and the SB members, Municipal Department Heads, Barangay Captains, community groups leaders, Dep-Ed Pilar selected teachers, and some municipal employees were all present to take part in the event.
Mr. Leovigildo E. Domingo, Jr., Mrs. Perlie S. Baclig, Mrs. Imelda N. Martin, and Dr. Pauline B. Roxas gracefully emceed the congress.
